Friday 06/30/23 NRA Defensive Pistol with Ron Stambaugh

The NRA Defensive Pistol Course will focus on the techniques needed to develop a defensive mindset. The goal of the course will be to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to carry and use a concealed pistol ethically, responsibly, and with confidence.

Instructor: Ron Stambaugh

Prerequisites: This is an advanced course. You must have basic experience in shooting firearms and firearms safety.

Agenda:

• As a result of participating in this course, the student will be able to explain and demonstrate the following: How to apply the NRA Rules for Safe Gun Handling when carrying a concealed firearm.
• Basic principles of concealment
• Cover and concealment
• Drawing from the holster
• Levels of mental awareness
• Developing the proper mindset when using a pistol for personal protection
• Clearing common stoppages
• Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Personal Protection Outside The Home handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure and the NRA Defensive Pistol certificate. This course is only conducted by NRA Certified Advanced Pistol Instructors.

Course Length:  8 hours

Required Minimum Equipment You will need to bring:

• Firearm in good working condition     (If you don’t have your own firearm or can’t bring it for class you can rent one for $25 plus ammo.  This includes firearm, extra mags, and OWB holster.  You must contact Michelle at least 3 days prior to class to rent the firearm and equipment)
• Ammo 200rds (No steel casing or reloads)
• Eye Protection
• Electronic Ear Protection

Range Attire:

• Cap or Wide Brimmed hat
• No loose-fitting shirts at the neck, tank tops,v-neck, etc… (to avoid brass from entering shirt)
• Long pants
• Sturdy closed-toe shoes

Other:

• Lunch & snacks as needed
• Water (enough to remain hydrated)
• Note taking material
