USCCA’s “Women’s Handgun & Self-Defense Fundamentals” is a welcoming and engaging training guide created by a woman for women who are seeking to begin, improve upon, or add to their firearms skills. This course is designed to reach students who are brand new to firearms and those who are ready to learn more about defensive shooting. Basics and fundamentals will be introduced, reviewed, and then built upon, while also exploring situational awareness, common types of handguns, ammunition types, malfunctions, and firearms handling skills.
Whether you’ve never touched a firearm, you’re looking for the next steps in your training, or you’ve chosen to learn about the skills, tools, and mindset needed to use firearms for self-defense, you can be prepared to carry confidently every day with tips and techniques from experienced women in the world of firearms.
The USCCA Women’s Handgun and Self-Defense Fundamentals course is a level approach to beginning and developing a self-defense strategy, with the use of a firearm.

You Will Need to Bring
- Quality functional semi-automatic pistol – Full size and compact pistols only (semi-auto center fire pistols only – revolvers or .22 caliber pistols are not allowed)
- No micro pistols or pocket pistols to include: P238, P938, Glock 43, etc.
- 3 magazines minimum
- New Factory FMJ Ammo (No Steel Casing or reloads)
- Speed Loader
- Closed-toed Shoes
- Clothing suitable for training in any weather.
- Wraparound eyewear, polycarbonate lenses or non-shattering prescription glasses
- Electronic Earmuffs and earplugs
- Range Gear
Other:
- Please make sure to bring food and water as it is not provided
- Note taking material
Range Attire:
- Clothing suitable for training in any weather, pants must have belt loops
- Cap or Wide Brimmed hat
- No loose-fitting shirts at the neck, tank tops,v-neck, etc… (to avoid brass from entering shirt)
- Footwear suitable for rapid movement and turning.
